Services

SERVICES DESIGNED AROUND YOU

Whether you’re after the freedom of a low maintenance lifestyle or the added reassurance of help when you need it. We offer a range of services designed around your individual needs, including:

  • Cleaning your home
  • Picking up groceries/errands
  • Taking you to GP and hospital appointments
  • Bathing and dressing
  • Laundry
  • Companionship when out and about

The domestic and personal care packages available at Retirement Living PLUS developments are tailor-made to suit you. The service is delivered by people you know — and you only pay for what you use. Also, the level of help can go up or down. If you’re ill, for example, you might want support for just a few days.

GOOD FOOD ON SITE

All our Retirement Living PLUS developments have in-house restaurants or bistros. Ideal for when you don’t feel like cooking or want to catch up with friends.

IT’S GREAT TO KNOW

  • Every staff member has been DBS (criminal record) checked and is fully trained to offer an outstanding service.
  • YourLife is regulated in England by the Care Quality Commission. In Scotland, the regulator is the Care Inspectorate and in Wales it’s the Care and Social Services Inspectorate.
  • The latest CQC reports are available online.

WE’RE ALWAYS OPEN AND TRANSPARENT AROUND COSTS.

All our homeowners pay an annual service charge. It’s paid by direct debit every month and reviewed each year. This charge allows us to take care of the day-to-day running of the development, such as maintaining the shared areas and gardens for you.

Service charges are reviewed on an annual basis with all the owners and are subject to change depending on increases or decreases in costs, such as switching energy suppliers. The service charges are ‘pass through’ costs which we do not mark up in any way.

You’ll find costs in some developments are higher than in others. This reflects the range of facilities and services on offer – such as restaurants/bistros and salons, garden maintenance, laundry services and the size of the on-site team.

In addition to a service charge, you’ll also need to pay ground rent, which can typically cost £400 to £500 a year.

TWO EXAMPLES OF OUR SERVICE CHARGES.

For a typical Retirement Living apartment (based on Atwood House in Sanderstead), the latest service charge is £48.93 a week for a one-bedroom apartment and £73.36 a week for a two-bedroom apartment.

For a typical Retirement Living PLUS apartment (based on Chesterton Court in Ilkley), the latest service charge is £138.27 a week for a one-bedroom apartment and £184.31 a week for a two-bedroom apartment.

These figures are correct up to 30 June 2021.

DO SERVICE CHARGES MAKE IT MORE EXPENSIVE THAN IN MY CURRENT HOME?

That will depend on your individual circumstances, but in many cases, service charges are lower than like-for-like costs in a previous property. Heating costs are also often lower due to our modern construction methods and the more manageable size of the new property.
