Local Area

Stillington Oaks is located in the beautiful North Yorkshire town of Easingwold, first mentioned in the Domesday Book. This historic market town nestles at the foot of the Hambleton Hills offering beautiful green vistas as far as the eye can see. The Georgian town centre offers a variety of independent coffee shops, butchers, artisan bakers, a DIY shop, newsagents, gift shops, jewellers, knitting shop, several clothes stores and gift shops and an art gallery. There are several public houses that offer meals and a variety of takeaways. Additionally, there is a library, Boots the Chemist, a dentist, doctors surgery, a bank and a building society and several small supermarkets and hair dressers. The town holds a weekly local market on Friday’s and once a month there is an artisan market. There are several beautiful churches in the town which hold regular services.
The town has several parks, a wetland and local woodland suitable for shorter walks. For those of you that love walking further afield there are many routes accessible from Easingwold and more just a short drive away. Local attractions just a short drive away include The White Horse at Kilburn (13 miles), Castle Howard (15 miles), the east coast just an hour and ten minutes drive, the Yorkshire Moors is half an hour’s drive and the Yorkshire Dales about 50 minutes away.
Easingwold is located just 12 miles north of York which is a firm favourite with tourists from all over the world who come to see this historic and striking city. York offers a variety of specialist shops and facilities and tourist attractions.
At the heart of Easingwold is the Galtres Centre which hosts a range of clubs including a pop up cinema and the ‘beaming’ of live entertainment from the Royal Opera House and National Theatre. There are good transport links by both road and bus to areas both locally and regionally with the A19 connecting Easingwold to York heading south and to Thirsk and Middlesbrough heading north. Regular bus services operate from Easingwold providing connections to York, Thirsk and Helmsley along with several villages and towns in the area. York has a mainline train station allowing rail access to all parts of the UK.
